How is Jesus God and the Son of God?

The identity of Jesus Christ is sometimes a controversial issue among some people and has resulted in many discussions and debates. Therefore, let us examine the bible objectively to understand who Jesus is.
Many bible verses indicate that Jesus is both God and the Son of God.

Isaiah 9:6




Do you notice that the verse says that the Son that was born is the mighty God?

Isaiah 44:6




The verse mentions the King of Israel and His redeemer. These are clearly two beings/persons, and both of these two beings/persons are God. Therefore this verse mentions one God made from two persons.

One of them is God the Father, and the other one is God the Son.

UNDERSTANDING HOW JESUS IS BOTH GOD AND HIS SON IN A PRACTICAL WAY


The fact there are bible verses that indicate that Jesus is both God and God’s Son causes many people to become confused and wonder how Jesus can be both. The Bible does not explicitly explain how Jesus can be both God and the His Son.  However, we can look at it in a practical way.

Who you are depends on who your parents are.

Example: 
  • If your father is a fish, then it automatically means that you are also a fish.
  • If your mother is a turtle, then it automatically means you are also a turtle.
Therefore you would be both fish and turtle.

Let us apply this logic to Jesus.

Jesus’s mother is human, and therefore He is also human.
Jesus’s Father is God, and therefore He is also God.

Therefore Jesus is both man and God. This also means that Jesus is the Son of man and the Son of God.

Let us look at it another way.

You are human because your father is human, and at the same time, you are the Son of a human.

Jesus is God because His Father is God, and at the same time, He is the Son of God.
